 Healthy New Natural You!

New Year’s resolutions, they are fun to make but incredibly hard to maintain. More often or not the majority of us, promise a healthier lifestyle every New Year, with the hope that extreme resolutions will help us reach our goals. This year lets say goodbye to unachievable resolutions and make the simple change of going natural for a happier and healthier 2016.

Leading and living a natural lifestyle will have countless benefits for you inside and out, and there are many changes you can make to your everyday routine, to bring you closer to a healthier you!

Natural Skincare

This January refresh your bathroom cabinet with natural skincare. Natural skincare is seen as being better for our skin as it generally contains fewer irritants that can cause skin irritations. As well as this, natural skincare products will be free from any controversial ingredients that can lead to allergies and conditions such as dermatitis.

Aloe Vera

Look for ingredients such as Aloe Vera, which acts as a natural moisturiser, preventing dryness and flakiness. This wonder ingredient can also be used to treat sunburn due to its powerful anti-inflammatory properties.

Tea Tree

Tea Tree is another natural ingredient that is kind to the skin. It can be used as a topical anti-septic and antifungal treatment as it is able to penetrate to the deeper layer of the dermis. If you suffer from acne, using Tea Tree based products can be helpful too, as it can reach the blockage between the skin and sweat glands, while disinfecting pores and drying out white heads and blackheads.

Eat Clean

Apart from the obvious, which is weight loss, eating clean will also have a massive impact on your overall heath and wellbeing.  Take a look at these three meaningful benefits that have nothing to do with your size or shape:

Glowing Skin

Healthy eating really does give you a natural glow. Try snacking on strawberries,  extremely high in Vitamin C this delicious fruit helps fight free radicals that damage cells and break down collagen, which leads to fine lines and wrinkles.

Pomegranates are another great fruit to snack on, as they are known as one of the most antioxidant-rich fruits. Pomegranates promote cell regeneration and can also protect your skin from sun damage and its aging effects.

Avocados are the perfect ingredient to add to any meal as they are full of minerals, phytonutrients, omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants vitamins A and E which are known for their skin caring benefits. Avocado oil is absorbed deep into the skin to promote hydration, collagen production and tissue repair.

Improved Brain Function

For some time now it has been known that a good Mediterranean style diet is associated with lower decline in brain activity, cognitive function and a reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease. So this year try and limit your intake of red meat and high-sugar foods and switch to fish, eggs, poultry, fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy fats found in nuts and seeds.

A Good Nights Sleep

Eating the right food has also been linked to a better nights sleep and there are many foods out there that contain naturally occurring substances that help us achieve a sound night’s sleep. Having lower levels of magnesium in your body can make it harder to sleep, so try snacking on foods that are rich in magnesium like Almonds.

Walnuts are another good sleep aid, as they are a good source of tryptophan, which is a sleep enhancing amino acid that helps make serotonin and melatonin, a hormone that sets your sleep-wake cycles.

Natural Hair Care

It’s important to remember the products you use on your hair, are actually exposed to your whole body as well. So stay away from chemical nasties and reach for natural hair care instead, as you will be eliminating the unnecessary chemical intake that could potentially harm your body.

Look out for products that contain Sea Buckthorn, as the high volume of Omega 3,6,7 and 9 work to promote all round hair health as well as a vibrant, healthy shine. If you’re on the look out for hair loss prevention products then try nettle based ones, which also have scalp-protecting benefits too.
