How to maintain your summer glow!


The long days, beach breaks and short skirts are well and truly over now that we’re nearly halfway through October and although there are plenty of things we like to say hello to in autumn, the farewell to our summer glow can be bittersweet. As we all know, one should never underestimate the power of skincare and luckily for you, we’ve got a few tan-prolonging tips and tricks that will keep you glowing in the gloomy weather a little longer…


  1. Moisturise:

We’re probably better at applying moisturiser regularly on holiday due to the constant reminders of SPF and after sun. However, it is equally (if not more so) important to lather yourself with an effective moisturiser post holiday, as your skin is likely to be extremely dehydrated, especially as the central heating is switched on n. As well as needing a moisture boost to combat this, it will also help to prevent peeling and flaking, whilst overall soothing the skin from any sun damage.

  1. Exfoliate:

It is a common misconception by many that exfoliating will “scrub off your tan” but this couldn’t be further from the truth! Although harsh scrubbing too often isn’t beneficial, gently exfoliating your body once a week post suntan will help your skin look smooth and soft for longer. As we all know, the exposure to UV rays increases the rate at which the skin ages. As a result, the process of cell generation slows down. When old skin cells begin to pile up on the surface, it can make it look rough, dull and dry. Exfoliation will remove the barrier of dead cells clogging the skin, leaving us looking fresh and healthy!


  1. Hydrate:

It goes without saying, but keeping hydrated is probably one of the most important things you can do for your skin. Like the majority of cells in our body, skin cells are made up of water and without the sufficient amount they will not function properly. UV rays and hot temperatures will significantly decrease our moisture levels, making it even easier for our skin to turn dry and flaky. The best ways to avoid this are…

  • Keep showers cool – hot water can further dehydrate the skin, which will stimulate peeling.
  • Drink lots of water – it’s just as important to keep your skin hydrated from the inside as well as out, and the consumption of water will help extend the life of your skin cells.
